A pair of gun-toting robbers snatched a reported $150,000 from a Jamaica Plain check-cashing store in a brazen daylight heist yesterday.

The men swooped in at the Forest Hills Check Cashing outlet on Washington Street, where they forced a female employee to open the safe at gunpoint at about 9:30 a.m.

Cops said the men then herded the woman and her male and female colleagues and locked them in a bathroom while they filled a duffel bag with cash from the safe and a teller drawer.

After the men fled the store, one of the employees called police. Officers raced to the scene and searched the area but were unable to track down the bandits.

Boston police would not disclose how much was stolen but WCVB-TV (Ch. 5) quoted “officials” as saying $150,000 was grabbed.

The store owner was unavailable for comment yesterday.

One suspect, who brandished a black, automatic weapon, is described as black, 6 feet, 3 inches tall, age 25 to 30. He wore a black and light-colored baseball cap, metal-framed glasses, a black shirt and black jeans.

The other suspect is also black, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, age 28 to 33, of medium build and had a beard. He wore a tan baseball cap, large sunglasses, a black T-shirt with white letters and white shorts. Anyone with information is asked to call District 18 detectives at 617-343-5628.
