Manager's Meeting

Tom, D9572932, 3690

This weekend weather was nice. It was warm and not damp, but John didn't even notice. John was a manager in a company. Although he had a high position, no one was jealously trying to take over his job. That was because he always treated his companions graciously. He did his work earnestly because he liked to see a job well done. His companions considered him a modest, generous, and clever man, so they told everyone that this company was the best in the country.

Unfortunately, a terrible thing happened on this weekend morning. John thought that today he would do his daily routine as usual, but his boss assembled all of the department heads for an important conference. He arrived at the meeting on time with his bag. Here, he was still a little guy — a low level manager. But that was not why he felt so bad. Other things bothered him. For example, some departments argued over the budget greedily and they weren't ashamed of trying to deceive their boss or of interrupting important issues. They quarreled and scolded each other for being prejudiced and competed with other departments, and so on. In the end, the boss promised to mend their problems. When he gave in to their requests, that finally brought an end to this violent storm.

When John got home, he took off his coat, socks, and leather shoes. Without any hesitation, he sat on the sofa and immediately he felt he was where he really wanted to be — home.
