A Weather Report

"This is a severe weather warning," said the voice of the weatherman on the radio.

Everyone in the office sat up straight and listened carefully.

"A violent storm is moving in this evening." Mike looked out his office window. It was a mild spring day with a calm breeze blowing. The air felt damp because the snow was melting. It was hard to believe what the voice on the radio was saying. "It will begin with thunder showers late afternoon. The showers will turn to a heavy rain and a cool dip in temperatures below zero will result in freezing rain and ice on the roads. Drivers are warned to drive carefully, and if possible, don't go out tonight. Just stay inside where it's nice and warm. Be safe and stay out of harm's way."

"Get used to it, Mike," said a colleague. "This is Calgary. The mountains really affect our weather."

"Yeah," said another colleague, "around here they say, 'If you don't like the weather, just... wait a minute!'"
